Course Description
Creative writing can be used in many different settings. Many people find that after doing a creative writing course that they are more able at writing reports and other documents, because the creative processes have been developed. You can create stories for children, for magazines or simply to amuse yourself.
You can do both level two and level three creative writing course or you can do just one level if that is what you prefer.
Level two creative writing course you will learn:
- To recognise and choose a variety of different writing styles and genres
- Understand the importance of writing creatively for different audiences and how to choose your audience
- How to use your personal experiences as a source for creative writing
- How to creatively develop the usage of all five senses into your writing
- How to shape and structure your ideas
- How to reflect and evaluate your own work
Level three creative writing course you will learn:
- An in depth understanding of structure direction and shape
- The elements of fiction
- How to use pace and emotion for best effect
- An in depth knowledge of form, structure and genre
- Strategies for conveying mood, plot, narrative and dialogue
- The importance of developing a critical and constructing approach to your creative writing and to the writing of others
- You will develop your own critical abilities in relation to your own writing
Creative Writing Skills course is a level 2 optional unit awarded by NOCN, which broadly equates to GCSE or NVQ level 2 standards. It carries with it a credit rating of 3 for the unit and can contribute towards a total of 24 units which is the required number of credits to achieve a Level 2 certificate in progression. This unit can be purchased as assessed or non assessed.
Creative Writing Skills course level three is an optional unit awarded by NOCN which broadly equates to A level or NVQ level three standards. It carries with it a credit rating of 3 for the unit and can contribute towards a total of 30 credits which is the required number of credits to achieve a Level 3 certificate in progression.
This unit can be purchased as either assessed or non assessed. The assessed version carries with it a requirement for work to be submitted to an assessor and the opportunity for a period of online coaching. At level three creative writing the work consists of a written description on your progress as you learn from the course and a story or essay. At level two creative writing the work consists of a personal development log and a story or essay.
